Remote Field Testing Inspection
Remote Field Tube Inspections use a similar technique to ultrasonic IRIS testing, however it uses magnetic fields instead of sound waves.
Testing is accomplished by passing a device with both a transmitter and receiver coil through the tube to be tested. Anomalies anywhere in the path cause phase and magnitude changes.
The through-transmission nature of the coils will detect indications of defects with extreme sensitivity. This test has several advantages over other electromagnetic tests. It is highly sensitive to walk thickness variations, is suitable for ferromagnetic materials, and is equally sensitive to inner and outer surfaces.
