Positive Material Identification
Positive material identification is conducted to confirm that the material is consistent with the required specifications.
Focus NDT will produce accurate PMI reports ensuring that the materials either due for installation, or in production, are within acceptable tolerances.
There are on site non destructive testing methods, using handheld tools. For example, X-Ray fluorescence (XRF) which excites the atoms within the alloy that produce X-rays that have detectable characteristics. These characteristics identify the percentages of different metals in each alloy sample. Other tools can be used depending on the specific requirements and environment, such as Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) and Portable OES.
